Timber and Marble Care

Timber

Timber is a natural material with a variety of colours, grains and finishes. It will expand, contract and change colour in an environment with temperatures changing from hot to cold. Due to this, we recommend the furniture is not put  in direct sunlight or close to air conditioning or heating vents.

Do not leave spills to sit on surfaces. Avoid contact with heat, liquid, and take care when placing abrasive objects on the timber.

Clean only with a mildly soapy dishcloth, do not use scourers, chemicals, abrasives, polishes, waxes, microfibre clothes or other such cleaning items. Do not use any other cleaners or polishes as they may cause permanent damage.

Marble

Spills and Spot Cleaning

Treat spills and stains as soon as possible, using a damp cloth with warm soapy water.  If a stain persists, apply a ph-balanced scouring cleaner using a soft bristled brush. Do not use acidic cleaners

Scratches

If scratches appear in any of our Carrara marble products they can quite easily be buffed out with some water & sandpaper. We recommend seeking advice or service from a professional when considering scratch removal.

Avoid scratches by using placemats.

Chips in any marble pieces can be repaired, although they should be dealt with by a professional.

Pitting and Fissuring in natural stone

It’s important when considering natural stone that pits and fissures are part of the stones natural structure, there may always be these tiny spaces in the deposits of mineral crystals that make each slab unique. You should be aware that they are in no way a structural defect and natural pitting present on the surface is what distinguishes highly sought after natural stone from man-made or manufactured material.
